Dementia Care

Compassionate In-home Care for Dementia and Alzheimer Patients

At Christian Sitters, we understand the challenges faced by individuals living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as well as their families. Our insured caregiver agency is dedicated to providing exceptional in-home care services to those residing in the Greater Jackson area, including Madison, Ridgeland, and Brandon. With a focus on compassion, personalized attention, and extensive training, we strive to enhance the lives of our patients and support their families throughout their caregiving journey. Familiarity and routine is critical to the quality of life for dementia and Alzheimer patients, and we understand that most patients want to stay home. That’s where we come in. We help bridge the gap between staying home and moving to an assisted living facility. Our goal is to create a safe and compassionate in-home environment for our clients, while providing their loved ones with the peace of mind to balance focusing on their own families and lives too.

Understanding and Connecting on a Personal Level

Our caregivers at Christian Sitters are trained to work specifically with the unique needs of dementia and Alzheimer patients. We believe in creating an environment that fosters familiarity, comfort, and a sense of belonging. To achieve this, we begin with a thorough initial assessment of each client, where we take the time to note important personal details about their life. Through our initial assessment, we gather vital information such as the names of their family members, past jobs, hobbies, shows they enjoy watching, religion and spirituality and their daily routine. Our team not only focuses on the positive aspects of our client’s lives, but the challenges as well. This includes awareness of physical limitations and looking for signs of agitation, so we can create a calm, safe environment for everyone. By creating a complete profile of their personal life, we can better understand and connect with our patients. This allows us to provide care that goes beyond the medical aspect, fostering a sense of companionship and emotional support.

Complete Medical History and Continuing Education

In addition to building a comprehensive profile about our patients' personal lives, our caregivers at Christian Sitters are also well-versed in their complete medical history. We recognize the importance of understanding the medical background and specific needs of each individual under our care. To ensure our caregivers remain up-to-date with the latest advancements and best practices in dementia and Alzheimer care, we prioritize ongoing education and training. Our caregivers complete a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education every year in addition to CPR and First Aid Certification by the Red Cross. Furthermore, our caregivers actively participate in group discussions to share successful tips and strategies when working with other dementia patients. This commitment to continuous learning ensures that our caregivers are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide exceptional care
